It's situated in the northeast of Berlin. It borders to Lichtenberg in the west, Kpenick-Treptow in the south and the state of Brandenburg in the east and north. The borough contains of five former villages: Biesdorf, Hellersdorf, Kaulsdorf, Mahlsdorf and Marzahn, which are part of Berlin since 1920.
