Marzahn-Hellersdorf is one of 13 boroughs of Berlin, formed in 2001 by merging the former boroughs of Marzahn and Hellersdorf. It's situated in the northeast of Berlin. It borders to Lichtenberg in the west, Kpenick-Treptow in the south and the state of Brandenburg in the east and north. The borough contains of five former villages: Biesdorf, Hellersdorf, Kaulsdorf, Mahlsdorf and Marzahn, which are part of Berlin since 1920.
