Mary-margaret Humes

Mary-Margaret Humes (born April 4, 1958) is an American actress best known for playing Gale Leery, the title character's mother on the television drama Dawson's Creek which ran from 1998 to 2003. Born in Florida, she won the Miss Florida pageant and was third runner up in the Miss USA paegant. She was urged to try acting by fellow Floridian Burt Reynolds and her best known movie role is as one of the Vestal Virgins in Mel Brooks's History of the World, Part I. Humes has a long list of guest starring roles to her credit on such diverse shows as The Dukes of Hazzard, Matlock, Knight Rider, Murphy Brown, The A-Team, The Fall Guy, Hardcastle and McCormick, and Touched by an Angel. She was also a regular on the short-lived NBC series Eerie, Indiana in 1991.
