Martinborough

Martinborough is the name of a small town in South Wairarapa a district in the Wellington region on the North Island of New Zealand. It is located 65 kilometres east of Wellington and 35 kilometres southwest of Masterton. The town has a population of a little over 10,000. The area around Martinborough has a large number of vineyards producing wines such as pinot noirs. During December, these are celebrated in the Taste of Martinborough festival. This event, one of Wellington's annual social highlights, temporarily doubles the town's population.
