Market Weighton

Market Weighton is a small town in the East Riding of Yorkshire. In many respects it is very close to both Hull and York and there is a bus service that runs throught it (X46) from Hull to York, making both cities very accessible. Historically the market town was founded in 1251, today the abundance of shops is rather poor but yearly festivals help to brighten up the place. The town remains somewhat lacking architecturally. However, it has a bright and colourful history, largely based around legends such as William Bradley the Yorkshire Giant and the Fat Pig of Hotham. Tourists are made very welcome in Market Weighton, and fans of the BBC's The League of Gentlemen will recognise some familiar characters!
