Mariposa Beach, Ontario

Mariposa Beach was a little known unincorporated settlement formerly in the Canadian province of Ontario near Orillia in Ramara Township. It no longer appears on the standard provincial highway maps. Stephen Leacocks fictionalized Orillia from Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town, and the Mariposa Folk Festival named after the latter, have completely supplanted the original meaning of what was a real place.
