Mariner Moose

Mariner Moose is the mascot of the Seattle Mariners, an MLB baseball team. In 1990 a contest for children 14 and under was held to select the mascot for the team. Out of 2500 entries, from kids ages 14 and younger, the club schose the "Mariner Moose." In 1995 during the American League Championship Series, the Moose gained national attention when he broke his ankle crashing into the Kingdome wall on his rollerblades. The Moose would entertain fans by rollerblading behind an ATV on the synthetic warning track of the Dome. More national attention was brought to the character in 1996 when the Moose ran as Ken Griffey, Jr's running mate in a Nike television campaign. The Moose makes hundreds appearances a year at hospitals, birthday parties, community events and every Mariners home game.
