Marcel Pagnol

Marcel Pagnol (February 28, 1895 - April 18, 1974) was a French novelist, playwright and filmmaker.

Biography

Born in Aubagne, Bouches-du-Rhne dpartement, in southern France, the son of a school teacher, Marcel Pagnol grew up in Marseille, spending his summer holidays in a house in the hills near Aubagne. Marcel Pagnol was elected a member of the Acadmie franaise in 1946. He died in Paris.
