Marathon, OntarioMarathon is a town located in the Thunder Bay district in Ontario. It is located in the northern part of Lake Superior but not the northernmost and north of the Pukaskwa National Park. It is linked with Peninsula Road (formerly Highway 626) with the Trans-Canada Highway of the Southern Route which is also Highway 17 about 2 km east. It is located E of Thunder Bay and Nipigon, SW of Hearst, W of Wawa and N of Sault Ste. Marie. It is connected by the Canadian Pacific Railway running between Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie. Marathon has a school, a park, a hotel and had a factory. Much of the residential area are located in the south and east. The Pic River is founded in the eastern part. It is adjacent to the Peninsula Harbour and has several coves including Garden Cove, Sturdee Cove and Craddock Cove, all thre located WNW of Marathon, in the surrounding area. It also has a lake named Penn Lake in the eastern part of Marathon.
