Manhwa

Manhwa is the Korean word for comic strips and comic books. Outside of Korean-speaking areas, the term refers to Korean comic books. The term is similar to Japanese "manga" and Chinese "manhua", because the same Chinese characters have been the basis for all three words, with each language using their own native pronunciation of the same characters. Manhwa also resemble manga and in its visual style and symbolism, which also means that it tends to be confused with the latter. Of note is that manhwa is usually read in the same direction as Western books, horizontally and from left to right, whereas manga is read vertically and from right to left.
