is based on the
Latin alphabet
with the addition of some letters with
diacritic
marks. It is used to write the
Maltese language
. It contains 30 letters:

Note that it does not contain the Latin letter
Y
. The alphabet is sometimes considered to contain
C
(
sorting
after
Ċ
), but this letter is only used in words derived from other languages, especially
Italian
and
English
.
