MTV Unplugged in New York is the name of a concert by Nirvana, recorded on the MTV Unplugged series. The album was released on November 1, 1994 (see 1994 in music) and is the most popular of the MTV Unplugged sessions, being released posthumously after musician Kurt Cobain's death on April 5, 1994. MTV Unplugged in New York was a #1 hit on Billboard's Top 200 album chart, and won a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. In 1998 Q magazine readers voted Unplugged in New York the 77th greatest album of all time. It is number 311 on the List of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
