History MRV was organized in July 1988 as MRV Technologies, Inc., a California corporation and reincorporated in Delaware in April 1992, at which time its name was changed to MRV Communications, Inc. By the end of 2002, MRV employed a total of approximately 1,400 employees. At the end of 2003, it was approximately 1,250. Approximately 600 of them were in manufacturing, 200 in product development and engineering and 450 in sales, marketing and general administration. Approximately 850 employees are in locations outside the United States. As is typical of the industry, none of MRV's employees are represented by a union or governed by a collective bargaining agreement. Finance MRV is a public company whose stock is traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange with the symbol MRVC. As of February15, 2004, there were 105,471,625 shares of MRV common stock outstanding.
