100BASE-TX
Ethernet
uses MLT-3 (Multilevel Transmission Encoding - 3 levels). MLT-3 interfaces emit less
Electromagnetic interference
and require less bandwidth than binary (High/low) interfaces that operate at the same bit/s data rate. MLT-3 cycles through -1, 0, +1, 0, -1, 0, +1, 0, ... etc. It moves to the next state to transmit a 1 bit, and stays in the same state to transmit a 0 bit.
