Lyman, WashingtonLyman is a town located in Skagit County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 409. History Lyman was officially incorporated on May 8, 1909. Geography is located at 48°31'31" North, 122°3'39" West (48.525158, -122.060892). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²). 1.7 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 13.16% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 409 people, 161 households, and 105 families residing in the town. The population density is 239.3/km² (621.2/mi²). There are 173 housing units at an average density of 101.2/km² (262.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 95.60% White, 0.98% African American, 1.47% Native American, 0.24% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.71% from two or more races. 0.73% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 161 households out of which 28.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.9% are married couples living together, 7.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.2% are non-families. 25.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.54 and the average family size is 2.99. In the town the population is spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 24.0% from 45 to 64, and 11.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 98.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.7 males. The median income for a household in the town is $34,318, and the median income for a family is $40,625. Males have a median income of $34,583 versus $25,417 for females. The per capita income for the town is $17,014. 15.7% of the population and 11.3% of families are below the poverty line.
