Lifesavers
LifeSavers
is a traditional
American
brand of
hard candy
. The ring shaped candies are packaged in rolls of about 15 pieces. LifeSavers was a
subsidiary
of
Kraft Foods
before being purchased by the
Wrigley Company
in
2004
. Lifesavers were first created in
1912
by
Clarence Crane
, a
Cleveland
chocolatier
. The candy got its name due to its resemblance to a
life preserver
. In recent years, they have expanded the brand to include LifeSaver Minis, LifeSaver Fusions, Creme Savers, and Creme Savers soft candy (
gummi bear
-like creme savers).
