Les Invasions Barbares

Les Invasions barbares (In English version: The Barbarian Invasions) is a 2003 Canadian drama/comedy film from Quebec director Denys Arcand.

Synopsis

A sequel to Arcand's 1986 film Le Dclin de l'empire amricain, the film revolves around the character Rmy's battle with terminal cancer, and the various friends and family members who gather to visit and comfort him.

Awards

The film won France's 2004 Csar Award for Best Picture and Best Director, plus Best Original Screenplay for Denys Arcand. It also won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 76th Academy Awards in 2004.
