Lenox Library
is one of the cornerstones of the
New York Public Library
. The Lenox Library was founded by
James Lenox
in 1871 and later transformed along with
J. J. Astor
's
Astor Library
into the New York Public Library in 1911. The original building stood on
Fifth Avenue
and now houses the library's
Frick Collection
.
