Leif Pagrotsky

Leif Pagrotsky, born October 20, 1951 in Gothenburg, is a Swedish Social Democratic politician. He is currently (as of 2005) Minister for Education, Research and Culture in the Swedish government. Pagrotsky has two degrees from Gothenburg University, a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science in economics. Before joining Cabinet, Pagrotsky worked at the Central Bank of Sweden and in the Ministry of Finance. In 1997 Prime Minister Gran Persson made him Minister of Trade and in 2002 Minister for Industry and Trade. November 1, 2004 he switched posts with former Minister of Education Thomas stros. At the same time, the responsibility for cultural matters, previously belonging to a separate ministry, was added to the Pagrotskys portfolio. Leif Pagrotsky lives in Saltsj-Boo, in Nacka in Stockholm County.
