League Of European Research Universities

According to its mission statement, the League of European Research Universities (LERU) is "a group of European research-intensive universities committed to the values of high quality teaching within an environment of internationally competitive research." Founded in 2002, it is a partnership between 12 of Europe's top research universities. It is headquartered in Leuven, Belgium. The member universities are: Belgium Finland France Germany Italy The Netherlands Sweden Switzerland United Kingdom The 7 universities marked with an * are also members of the Coimbra Group, another (larger) alliance of European universities. Several members of LERU are also member of Europaeum, yet another European university network.
