Lawrence Payton

Lawrence Albert Payton (June 2, 1938 - June 20, 1997) was an African American tenor singer, songwriter, and record producer for the popular Motown quartet, The Four Tops. Payton was born in Detroit, Michigan, USA and eventually had nine children with Elizabeth Payton of Detroit. He died from a heart attack in 1997.
