Laura Mulvey

Laura Mulvey (born August 15, 1941) is a British feminist film theorist. She is currently professor of film and media studies at Birbeck College, University of London. Laura Mulvey's essay, "Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema", discusses the psychology of females and males along with the prefeminism views of man being the action-taker and viewing the woman, while the woman fulfills the role of the observed and remains inactive. The man's psychological obsessions and his fantasies of the female image is especially obvious in cinema.
