Land Economy

Land Economy is a multidisciplinary subject becoming increasingly popular at universities in the United Kingdom. It is the study of law, economics, and the environment in so far as they relate to land usage and development. As such, areas studied include property law, planning law, microeconomics, deforestation, agricultural trends, crop rates farming and the economies of various lands, particularly in Western and Eastern Europe. At present only the University of Cambridge and the University of Aberdeen offer this degree but the intense competition for places has caused other universities to consider offering the degree. Professional land economists have generally not been given the publicity or recognition seen by those in other professions and many students of land economy undertake employment in the agriculture industry, working as town-planners, farmers, farmhands and manufacturers of agricultural equipment.
