Laforey Class Destroyer (1913)

The Laforey class was a class of 22 torpedo boat destroyers of the Royal Navy, launched between 1913 and 1915, that served during the First World War. Officially known as the L class, it is now referred to as the Laforey class to distinguish from the later L class of Second World War destroyers. Six of the ships were built with two funnels, the remainder had three. They were oil-fired and capable of 29 knots. Two were built in 1915 under the Emergency War Programme, the remainder had been completed before the outbreak of war in 1914. Three were lost during the war.
