La Paternal, Buenos Aires

La Paternal (English: 'The Paternal') is a barrio or district in the centre of Buenos Aires city, Argentina. It was founded in 1904 by a City Decree (Decreto) and was named 'La Paternal' after the train station in the neighbourhood, a former industrial zone. La Paternal neighbours the following barrios: Agronoma, Chacarita, Villa Crespo, Villa Mitre, Villa Santa Rita and Caballito. The barrio is home to the Argentinos Juniors Football Team and, as a consequence, is the first part of Buenos Aires where Diego Maradona played.
