Kontiolahti is a municipality of Finland. It is located in the province of Eastern Finland and is part of the North Karelia region. The municipality has a population of 12,103 (2003) and covers an area of 1,029.84 km of which 247.92 km is water. The population density is 11.8 inhabitants per km. The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
