Kong

KONG is a television station in Seattle, Washington that broadcasts on UHF channel 16, but is usually on channel 6 on local cable systems. Its digital broadcasting (HDTV) channel is 31. KONG is independent of any network affiliation; it is owned by the Belo Corporation, which also owns KING channel 5, and is run by KING out of its offices just west of Seattle Center. Occasionally, KONG broadcasts programs from the NBC network that are not aired on KING, in particular Meet the Press. KING 5 also airs a morning newscast ("Seattle Live") and a 10pm newscast on KONG. KONG was created by KING Broadcasting in 1997. Its city of license is Everett, Washington. The call letters KONG were chosen because of the marketability of King Kong.
