, now in central
Iraq
. The
Sumerian king list
states it was the first city to have kings after the
Deluge
. A French archeological team under
Henri de Genouillac
excavated there between
1912
and
1914
, and later an Anglo-American team under
Stephen Langdon
from
1923
to
1933
.
