He learned how to play the guitar at age 15.Later on he went to co-create the band exodous.After seeing him live afew times metallica decided to get rid of orginal guitarist dave musataine,and call kirk up for an audition.As soon as he walked in metallica hired him. After kill em' al he took lessons from guitar great joe satrani,in the next release,ride the lightning, it showed he was more experinced it wasnt just straight speed metal, he also got more complicated as noted on fade to black.His great thrash metal style, until load when he decided to merge blues,jazz,and classical into his playing. In st.anger some metallica fans said his guitar playing was in a slump but his live performances kept raging up the scale.what will here next from kirk perhaps a mix of blues,jazz,thrashmetal,heavy metal,classical and maybe even a style that is still deep inside kirk,or maybe will see a combination of black sabbath,and jimi hendrix.kirk is one of the greatest guitarist ever to walk the earth, never has anyone wanted to learn,and later master so many differnet styles of music.To give you an idea of what im talking about imagine a black sabbath riff with a eric clapton solo,or a jimi hendrix stlye with a twist of heavy metal. How can we compare him to other guitarist,well it all depends on what you like but if you ask me he combines all the great guitar gods,Jimi hendrix,eric claptom,tony iommi, eddie van halen,as well as many other heavy metal gods,and the final result his the ultimate guitar god,better everyone else because of his style and his passion.
