Kerrville, TexasKerrville is a city located in Kerr County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 20,425. It is the county seat of Kerr County. Geography Kerrville is located at 30°2'47" North, 99°8'26" West (30.046487, -99.140498). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 43.9 km² (16.9 mi²). 43.3 km² (16.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.36% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 20,425 people, 8,563 households, and 5,411 families residing in the city. The population density is 471.9/km² (1,222.5/mi²). There are 9,477 housing units at an average density of 219.0/km² (567.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 85.89% White, 2.99% African American, 0.55% Native American, 0.57% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 8.20% from other races, and 1.73% from two or more races. 22.73% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 8,563 households out of which 22.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.8% are married couples living together, 10.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.8% are non-families. 33.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.21 and the average family size is 2.79. In the city the population is spread out with 21.0% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 21.3% from 25 to 44, 20.4% from 45 to 64, and 29.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 87.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 83.0 males. The median income for a household in the city is $32,085, and the median income for a family is $38,979. Males have a median income of $27,555 versus $19,923 for females. The per capita income for the city is $20,193. 15.6% of the population and 11.7% of families are below the poverty line.
