Kerpen

Kerpen is a city in the Rhein-Erft-Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia. Germany. It has a population of 63,992 (2002), and is located at , about 30km southwest from Cologne. The city of Kerpen was created in 1975, when the previously independent municipalities Blatzheim, Buir, Manheim, Kerpen, Mdrath, Trnich, Brggen, Balkhausen, Sindorf and Horrem were merged together. Recently Kerpen has become more famous as being the hometown of Formula One driver Michael Schumacher.
