Keith Beukelaer

Keith Beukelaer is an American singer from Georgia who performed a notoriously bad rendition of Madonna's "Like a Virgin" during auditions for the second season of American Idol. The judges assumed that he was a plant, singing horribly on purpose just to earn camera time. He was asked to sing Whitney Houston's hit "I Wanna Dance With Somebody", to the same result. He was described by Simon Cowell as "possibly the worst singer in the world." Keith described Simon as "very mean" after his audition. Judge Paula Abdul, who is usually famous for building up the potential singers, criticized Keith's performance, asking him if he sincerely did not hear that he was such a poor singer. Keith was interviewed in a People magazine special edition on American Idol about his experiences, and he said that although it was a sobering experience, he would do it all over again if given the chance.
