Keir DulleaKeir Dullea (born May 30, 1936) is an actor best remembered for his role as astronaut David Bowman in the 1968 film . Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was raised in the Greenwich Village section of New York City where his parents ran a bookstore. His film debut came in 1961 in The Hoodlum Priest, in which he played a juvenile delinquent. He played an emotionally disturbed youth in a number of films, including David and Lisa (1962) and Bunny Lake is Missing (1965). He has yet to match the film success of 2001. Dullea has had a long and successful career on stage in New York City and in regional theaters. In 1965, Noel Coward, on the set of Bunny Lake is Missing, quipped to Dullea, "Keir Dullea, gone tomorrow." Little did Coward know that Stanley Kubrick would cast Dullea into the lead of .
