Kassia

Kassia (also Kassiane, Kassiani, Casia; 810 - bef.867) was a poet and a composer, one of the most ancient composers whose scores we really know and whose music we can really hear and perform. She was born in 810 in Constantinople in an aristocratic family. About 843 she founded a convent and became its first abbess.
