Kariakoo

Kariakoo is an area of the city of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. In earlier centuries it was a small village that was frequently raided by slave traders. Thousands of people were kidnapped from Karikoo and forced into slavery in the Americas. Ryszard Kapuscinski wrote about his experiences in Karikoo in his book Ebony.
