Kapitnleutnant

Kapitnleutnant is a rank in the German Navy that is equivalent to a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy or Royal Navy. However, a Kapitnleutnant (aka Kaleu) may command smaller ships (e.g. submarines in WWII) giving the rank responsibilities more along those of a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S or Royal Navies. Rank insignia includes two-and-a-half stripes on shoulder boards (or rings on sleeves).
