Kanbun (Era)

Kanbun (寛文) was a Japanese era after Manji and before Enpō and spanned from 1661 to 1673. Reigning emperors were Go-Sai and Reigen.
For the Japanese writing system, see Kanbun.

Change of Era

Because of disasters such as a great fire at the Imperial Palace, on the fourth day, 25th month of Manji 4 (1661), the era was changed to Kanbun (寛文, "Generous art"??)
