KPNX is the NBC affiliate for Phoenix, based in Mesa, AZ. It had been #3 in the ratings for many years until a massive shift in affiliation in Phoenix occurred. All stations lost their affiliates to other stations except channel 12. There, it finally hit the #1 spot, knocking long-time leader KTVK down only to #2 in the ratings. The NBC station is owned by the Gannett Co.
