Jonas Bronck

Jonas Bronck or Jonas Jonson Brunk (1600-1643) was a Swedish immigrant to the United States. In 1639 he acquired a piece of land located straight across from the island of Manhattan. The farm came to be known "Bronck's land", and that is the origin for the name of The Bronx, a borough of New York City. Bronck, Jonas Bronck, Jonas Bronck, Jonas
