Jokyo

Jōkyō (貞享) was a Japanese era after Tenna and before Genroku and spanned from 1684 to 1688. Reigning emperors were Reigen and Higashiyama.

Change of Era

To mark the start of a new cycle of the Chinese zodiac, on the 21st day of the 2nd month of Tenna 4 (1684), the era became Jōkyō (貞享, "Taking righteousness"?)
