Joel Benjamin

Joel Benjamin (born March 111964) is a chess Grandmaster. Joel Benjamin is considered to be one of the best active chess players born in the United States---along with Larry Christiansen. He was the US Chess Champion in 1987, 1997, and 2000. He was hired as a consultant by IBM to help with the Deep Blue chess computer that defeated World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov in 1997. On the January 2005 FIDE list, Benjamin had an Elo rating of 2554, making him the USA's number fourteen. Benjamin, Joel Benjamin, Joel
