Jimmy Shea Jim Shea, Jr. won the gold medal in the sport of skeleton at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. He was born and raised in West Hartford, Connecticut and moved to Lake Placid, New York in his late teens. Shea is a third-generation Olympian; his father Jim Sr., competed in nordic-combined at the 1964 games and grandfather Jack Shea won two gold medals in speedskating at the 1932 Olympics, which were held in Lake Placid. Like his grandfather, Shea, Jr. also recited the athlete's oath at the opening ceremonies. Shea, Jim Shea, Jim
