James Rumbaugh

Dr. James Rumbaugh is one of the leading methologists of modern software, he joined Rational Software in 1994. Together with Rational co-workers Ivar Jacobson and Grady Booch the three amigos, they developed first UML in 1997 and later they merged the three biggest software development methologies of the nineties Booch, OMT and OOSE into Rational Unified Process. OMT was developed by Jim himself while working for GE. Before working for Rational he worked for over 25 years at General Electric Research and Development Center Jim has a B.S. in physics from MIT, an M.S. in astronomy from Caltech, and a Ph.D. in computer science from MIT. He has written a number of books about UML and RUP together with Ivar and Grady.
