Jalal Mansur Nuriddin

Jalal Mansur Nuriddin is the founder of The Last Poets, a group of poets and musicians. He was originally an Army paratrooper but was put in jail for refusing to fight in the Vietnam War. In prison he converted to Islam, learned to spiel, an early form of rap, and began The Last Poets.
