Jacobean

Jacobean refers to a period in English history that coincides with the reign of James I (16031625). It is also used to refer to other things relating to the name James, notably the biblical Epistle of James. Jacobean is distinct from Jacobin, a faction in the French Revolution, and from Jacobian, a mathematical term. Jacobean derives from the New Latin Jacobaeus, cognate with James and Jacob. See Jacobean era.
