Jack RenshawJack Renshaw was a Labor Premier of the State of New South Wales from 30 April 1964 to 13 May 1965, a period of 1 year and 14 days. Jack Renshaw was born on 8 August 1909 at Wellington in New Zealand. He emigrated to Australia at a young age with his parents John Ignatius and Ann Reidy. Jack Renshaw was educated at the Binnaway Central School, Patrician Brothers at Orange and then Holy Cross College at Ryde. He helped to run the family dairy property at Hampden Park and also a milk run out of Binnaway. With his brothers he opened a butchery busniness and also a stock and station agency and oil and fuel depot. He joined the Labor Party in 1930, becoming a member of the central executive from 1945 to 1950, then President of the Gwydir electorate council for ten years from 1939. Jack Renshaw was also a Councillor on the Coonabarabran Shire Council from 1937 to 1941 including being the Shire President from 1939 to 1940. He went on to become deputy leader of the parliamentary Labor Party from 1959 to 1964 at which time he became the party leader and Premier of New South Wales until 1968. Jack Renshaw wed Hilda May Wall on 12 November 1943 and had one son from this marriage. He later divorced and remarried to Marjorie McKay on 11 April 1966. He died at the age of 77 on 28 July 1987.
