J And K Class Destroyer

The J and K class was a class of sixteen destroyer escorts of the Royal Navy launched in 19381938. They were heavy torpedo destroyers, designed to be cheaper than the destroyers of the Tribal class. They served in World War II, many in the Mediterranean where they fought several engagements against Italian ships and sank many merchant vessels. Eleven of the sixteen ships of the class were sunk in action, by dive bombers, torpedo planes, U-boats and mines. The flag superior of their pennant numbers changed from F to G in 1940.
