Isla Margarita

Isla Margarita ("Margarita Island") is part of the State of Nueva Esparta in Venezuela, situated in the Caribbean some 500 km north of the Venezuelan mainland. The state comprises three main islands, Margarita, Coche and Cubagua, plus a number of smaller ones like Isla de Patos, Isla de Aves and Isla Monjes. The capital is La Asuncin. Primary industries are tourism, fishing and construction. Population is around 400,000 and it covers an area of 1,150 km2.
