International Lease Finance CorporationILFC (International Lease Finance Corporation, though the abbreviation is the more common usage) has headquarters in Los Angeles, California, USA. It is the world's largest aircraft lessor, though ILFC's archrival, General Electric's GECAS unit has more aircraft. It leases Boeing and Airbus aircraft to airlines from all over the world including Air France, KLM, Lufthansa, American Airlines, Continental Airlines and Emirates. ILFC is owned by U.S. insurance giant AIG. It is run by Steven F. Udvar-Hazy. At the beginning of 2005, ILFC had an inventory of 824 aircraft (per AvSoft/(The Wall Street Journal.) ILFC has ordered 5 passenger Airbus A380 aircraft and 5 freighter versions and will receive the first aircraft in the summer of 2007. It has already placed two passenger versions with Emirates and is in talks to lease a further 2 to Air China.
