In These Times

In These Times is a biweekly magazine of news and opinion published in Chicago. It has a circulation of over 21,000 (2004). It was established in 1971. In These Times calls itself an independent socialist magazine in the sense that it is not affiliated with any party. As a non-profit organization, it is financed through subscriptions and donations. The magazine covers the labor movement, environmental issues, feminism, grassroots democracy, minority communities and the media. In These Times is also known for its investigative reporting about corporate malfeasance and government wrongdoing, its coverage of international affairs, and its cultural criticism. Its founding editor and publisher is James Weinstein; its editor is Joel Bleifuss. Regular contributors include Barbara Ehrenreich, Laura Flanders, Annette Fuentes, Juan Gonzalez, David Graeber, Miles Harvey, Paul Hockenos, George Hodak, Doug Ireland, Naomi Klein, Dave Mulcahey, Kim Phillips-Fein, Jeffrey St. Clair, Jane Slaughter, Kurt Vonnegut, Fred Weir, and G. Pascal Zachary.
