Illinois Territory
Illinois Territory
was a historic,
organized territory
of the
United States
from
February 3
,
1809
and organized into the state of
Illinois
in
December 3
,
1818
. It was separated out of the west of
Indiana Territory
and included Illinois,
Wisconsin
and parts of
Minnesota
. This land was attached to the
Michigan Territory
after Illinois became a state.
Kaskaskia
was the territorial capital.
